Growing older doesn’t come with a manual, so if you need information or advice on anything from health to housing, call our free national information line on 0800 678 1602. It’s open 365 days a year from 8am to 7pm. In 2015/16, we responded to over 259,000 enquiries.

In addition to grants, we raise our own funds through a range of fundraising activities and events. We receive donations from individuals, groups, offices, companies, with an increasing list of donors giving under Gift Aid. If specified, a donation can be credited to any individual project or projects.

As a charity we are able to apply for grants and donations from a range of charitable donors. Sadly, we do not receive a direct income from the many Age UK charity shops in Reading or donations that are made directly to Age UK – these help to fund the national organisation.

How long has Age UK been around?
On 1 April 2009, Age Concern England and Help the Aged joined together to create a new charity dedicated to improving later life for everyone. In April 2010, we officially became Age UK and – in 2012 – set up a separate sister charity, Age International, to take our international work forward.
