What is the difference between N47 and B47 engine?
The new B47 engine replaces the N47 power unit and like its predecessor is a four cylinder in-line, common rail injection, 1,995 cc displacement with a single turbocharger with variable turbine geometry. While the N47 in the xDrive18d and xDrive20d made 143 and 184, the new B47 provides 150 and 190 bhp.
The B47 has proven to be reliable so far in my mother’s 320d. She has had the car since new and it now has around 70k km on.
